Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a Copilot licence for Teams features?
Yes. Copilot in Teams requires the M365 Copilot add-on ($30/user/month) plus a qualifying base licence. Eligible bases include M365 E3/E5/F1/F3, Office 365 E1/E3/E5, Business Standard/Premium, and M365 A3/A5 (faculty only).
Does Copilot work in all Teams meetings?
Copilot works in scheduled meetings and Meet Now calls, and supports two modes — 'with transcription' (where the meeting is transcribed and Copilot can answer about the full meeting after it ends) and 'only during the meeting' (where Copilot can answer in real time but no transcript is retained afterwards). The 'only during meeting' mode means transcription is NOT a hard prerequisite. It requires at least one Copilot-licensed participant in the meeting.
Can Copilot summarise chat messages I missed?
Yes. In any 1:1 or group chat, ask Copilot to 'catch me up' and it will summarise messages since you last read.
