Frequently Asked Questions
What happens when my Business plan tenant grows past 300 users?
Microsoft enforces the 300-seat cap on Business plans (Basic, Standard, Premium, Apps for Business). When you grow past that, you migrate to Enterprise plans (E3 or E5). Plan the move before you hit the cap — feature parity isn't 1:1 and pricing changes.
Is Business Premium just E3 lite?
Not quite. Business Premium includes Intune, Defender for Business (a lighter version of Defender for Endpoint), Entra ID P1, and Azure Information Protection P1. It punches above its price for SMBs, but E3 wins on enterprise-grade compliance, advanced eDiscovery, and Defender for Endpoint full features.
Can I mix Business and Enterprise plans?
No. A tenant runs on one family at a time. You can mix SKUs within Enterprise (E3, E5, F3) but not Business and Enterprise plans together in one tenant.
What about frontline workers — F1 vs F3?
F1 is the lightest (no Office app installs), F3 adds web/mobile Office, Teams, email, Stream, and Yammer — designed for shift workers without dedicated PCs. Pair with E3/E5 for HQ staff.
