Frequently asked questions
The M365 interview questions I hear most often — what roles these are actually aimed at, and how the prep changes for experienced admins vs people moving into M365 for the first time.
What M365 roles is this list aimed at? #
Primarily Microsoft 365 admin and consultant roles — the questions span Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, Entra ID identity, Intune basics, Defender for Office 365, and Purview compliance. Less focused on developer roles (Graph API / SharePoint Framework) and not aimed at Copilot Studio agent builders. If you’re targeting a Copilot Studio dev role specifically, the AB-100 and AB-731 prep paths fit better.
Where can I download the M365 interview question pack? #
Free download is linked in the video description (Ko-fi shop) — susanth.bio.link hosts the full link tree. For a structured M365 admin study path, the MS-102 and MD-102 cert-tracker pages cover the same scope in exam form. Most M365 admin job ads now list either of those certs as preferred.
Are these questions for beginners or experienced M365 admins? #
Mixed — that’s the point. The list opens with fundamentals (Exchange recipient types, SharePoint site templates, Teams licensing) for first-time M365 candidates, then progresses to harder scenarios (Conditional Access design, hybrid Entra Connect, Defender XDR investigation flows) for senior admins. Experienced folks: skip to the second half. Beginners: don’t get demoralised at the senior questions — interviewers usually skip them for entry-level roles.
M365 vs Azure interview prep — do they overlap? #
They share identity (Entra ID) and security (Defender, Purview) heavily but diverge on workloads. Azure interviews lean on infrastructure (VNets, storage, compute, IaC), M365 interviews lean on productivity apps (Exchange, SharePoint, Teams) and end-user identity and compliance. If you’re interviewing for a hybrid role (M365 admin in an Azure-heavy enterprise), prep both — our 100 Azure Interview Questions post covers the Azure side.
How do I prep for an M365 interview if I've only done end-user work? #
Honest answer — you’ll struggle without 4 to 6 weeks of admin-portal time. End-user familiarity is helpful but interviewers test admin concepts (licensing, role assignments, conditional access policies, retention labels). Get a free M365 developer tenant (full E5 sandbox), break things, fix them. Pair that with the MS-900 fundamentals cert to ground your vocabulary. Then run through these interview questions out loud.
