About the Salesforce Platform Administrator Exam

Master the Salesforce Certified Platform Administrator exam: decide between a profile and a permission set, open up record access without breaking the sharing model, choose the right automation tool for a scenario, judge what actually breaks when a field is deleted, import and de-duplicate data safely, build reports and dashboards that respect folder sharing, and configure and troubleshoot Agentforce agents and their permissions.

The complete 250-question practice exam for the Salesforce Certified Platform Administrator credential, written to the eight-domain blueprint Salesforce published in its December 2025 exam refresh. Covers configuration and setup including company settings, fiscal year and business hours, declarative user interface administration, user setup and licence distribution, why administrators deactivate rather than delete a user, organization security controls such as identity verification, login hours, session settings and the Setup Audit Trail, the sharing model end to end from org-wide defaults through role hierarchy, public groups, sharing rules and manual sharing, and the decision between a custom profile, a permission set, a permission set group and muting; object manager and Lightning App Builder including standard object architecture, lookup, master-detail and junction relationships, record types and business processes, Schema Builder, creating and customizing fields and page layouts, and the real implications of deleting a field that participates in a roll-up summary, a cross-object formula or a picklist dependency; sales and marketing applications including the lead and opportunity lifecycle, lead conversion, lead and campaign management, assignment rules, path, forecasting, territory management and Einstein for Sales; service and support applications including case management, queues, assignment and escalation rules, auto-response rules, support processes and Einstein for Service; productivity and collaboration including activity management, Chatter groups and internal versus external access, the Salesforce mobile app, and AppExchange managed and unmanaged packages; data and analytics management including Data Import Wizard versus Data Loader, mass transfer, mass delete, export and backup, duplicate and matching rules, validation rules, report types and joined reports, bucketing, grouping and summary formulas, how the sharing model and folder structure affect report visibility, and dashboard data sources, dynamic dashboards, running user, subscriptions and refresh scheduling; automation including choosing the right tool for a scenario, screen flows, record-triggered flows and autolaunched flows, the order of execution, and approval processes with their entry criteria, approvers and rejection paths; and Agentforce including appropriate use cases for an agent, agent security and permissions, troubleshooting agent access, and maintaining topics, instructions and prompts in Agent Builder with conversation preview and testing. Frequently asked questions

The questions Salesforce admins usually ask before booking the Platform Administrator exam.

What does the Salesforce Platform Administrator exam cover? #

Eight scored domains, using Salesforce’s own published weights, which sum to exactly 100. Data and Analytics Management is the largest at 17% — Data Import Wizard versus Data Loader, mass transfer and mass delete, duplicate and matching rules, validation rules, report types and joined reports, and how the sharing model and folder structure decide who can see a report. Then Configuration and Setup at 15%, covering company settings, user setup and licences, organization security and the sharing model end to end; Object Manager and Lightning App Builder at 15%, covering relationships, record types, fields and page layouts; Automation at 15%, covering choosing the right tool, screen and record-triggered flows, the order of execution and approval processes; Sales and Marketing Applications at 10%; Service and Support Applications at 10%; Productivity and Collaboration at 10%; and Agentforce at 8%, covering agent use cases, security and permissions, and maintaining topics and instructions in Agent Builder.

Does this exam have an exam code like AZ-104? #

No. Salesforce identifies its credentials by name rather than by an alphanumeric exam code, so there is no official code to quote. You will see the credential listed on Trailhead as Salesforce Certified Platform Administrator — renamed from Salesforce Certified Administrator in the December 2025 refresh, which is also when the eight-domain blueprint and the Agentforce domain arrived. If a study site quotes a code for it, treat that as a sign the site is guessing.

How long is the exam and what score do I need? #

105 minutes for 60 scored questions, plus up to five unscored questions that do not count toward your result. The passing score is 68% in English. It is delivered through Pearson VUE, either at a test centre or online with OnVUE remote proctoring, and costs $200 USD with a $100 USD retake fee.

Do I need experience before taking it? #

There is no hard prerequisite, so you can book it whenever you like. Salesforce recommends six months or more of hands-on experience administering an org, and that recommendation is worth taking seriously — the questions are scenario-shaped rather than definitional. A typical question gives you a business requirement and asks which tool solves it, so knowing that a permission set exists matters far less than knowing when you would reach for one instead of a profile.

Which domain should I study first? #

Start with the sharing model, even though it is split across two domains. Org-wide defaults, the role hierarchy, sharing rules and manual sharing underpin Configuration and Setup at 15% and then resurface inside Data and Analytics Management at 17%, because report and dashboard visibility is a sharing question wearing different clothes. Once record access is second nature, move to Automation at 15%, where the recurring decision is which tool fits a given scenario and what the order of execution does to your assumptions.
