About the CloudSec-Pro Exam

Master Cortex Cloud (formerly Prisma Cloud) CNAPP — cloud posture, cloud runtime, application security, and Cortex/SOC fundamentals.

The Palo Alto Networks Certified Cloud Security Professional (CloudSec-Pro) validates the skills needed to secure multi-cloud environments with Cortex Cloud, Palo Alto’s unified Cloud-Native Application Protection Platform (CNAPP) — the evolution of Prisma Cloud. It covers five domains: Security Operations Center (SOC) Fundamentals, Cortex Fundamentals, Cloud Posture Security (CSPM, KSPM, AI-SPM, DSPM, agentless scanning, identity, compliance), Cloud Runtime Security (Cloud Workload Protection, Cloud Detection and Response, Web Application and API Security), and Application Security (ASPM, CI/CD posture, SCA, Infrastructure as Code security, secrets scanning). Every practice question is an original Cortex Cloud scenario across AWS, Azure, GCP, and OCI with detailed explanations and exam tips.

Who Should Take This Exam?

The CloudSec-Pro is a professional-level certification for cloud security engineers, SOC analysts, DevSecOps engineers, and cloud security architects who design, deploy, and operate CNAPP controls on Cortex Cloud (or Prisma Cloud). Hands-on experience securing cloud workloads, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines is recommended.

Typical study time: 6-10 weeks of focused study

Exam Domains & Weights

The CloudSec-Pro exam covers 5 domains. Focus your study time based on the weights below — higher-weighted domains have more exam questions.

DomainWeightPractice Qs
Security Operations Center (SOC) Fundamentals10%25
Cortex Fundamentals15%38
Cloud Posture Security29%72
Cloud Runtime Security26%65
Application Security20%50
Total100%250

💡 Study tip: Cloud Posture Security carries the most weight (29%) — start there, since CSPM, KSPM, AI-SPM, DSPM, and identity span most real exam questions. Cloud Runtime Security (26%) is a close second. SOC Fundamentals has the least (10%), but it sets the vocabulary the rest of the exam assumes.

Palo Alto Certification Path

Palo Alto’s role-based program runs Apprentice → Analyst → Professional. The CloudSec-Pro is the cloud security Professional certification — distinct from the network-security (NGFW) track. It replaces the retired PCCSE (Prisma Certified Cloud Security Engineer).

Study Tips

  1. Start with Cloud Posture Security — at 29% it is the heaviest domain; master CSPM, KSPM, AI-SPM, DSPM, agentless scanning, and identity first
  2. Use our practice exam — try the 20 free questions first to gauge your readiness
  3. Know the Cortex Cloud module map — be able to place each capability (posture vs runtime vs application security) and what the Cloud Workload Protection agent does versus agentless scanning
  4. Review explanations — don’t just check if you got it right; read why each answer is correct and why the others are wrong
  5. Simulate exam conditions — use the timed exam mode to practice under pressure
