About the FortiNAC-F 7.6 Administrator Exam

Configure and run FortiNAC-F 7.6 to discover devices, control network access, automate threat response, operate high availability, integrate FortiGate and third-party systems, and troubleshoot endpoint visibility.

The Fortinet NSE 6 - FortiNAC-F 7.6 Administrator exam validates the applied skills of a network or security professional who configures and administers FortiNAC-F in a production network. It covers FortiNAC-F architecture, infrastructure-device modeling, discovery, logical groups, isolation networks, captive networks, and the configuration wizard; security automation, custom event parsing, access enforcement, portal pages, host inventory, logical networks, user and host profiles, firewall tags, and Security Fabric integration; 1-to-1 hot-standby and N+1 high availability; FortiNAC-F Manager, FortiGate VPN sessions, MDM, vendor OUI tables, syslog, and SNMP traps; and guests, contractors, device profiling, rogue and classified devices, host registration, aging, reporting, logging, and troubleshooting.

This exam is pinned to FortiNAC-F 7.6 and FortiOS 7.6. That matters because FortiNAC-F uses FortiNAC-OS, version 7.6 removes Access Point Manager, and FortiNAC Manager uses the newer Cluster Management model. The exam page does not publish a numeric exam code, so this guide does not invent one.

Who Should Take This Exam?

This exam is designed for network and security administrators responsible for FortiNAC-F configuration, day-to-day operations, access control, endpoint visibility, integrations, high availability, and troubleshooting. Fortinet recommends at least six months of hands-on experience with FortiNAC-F devices deployed in a network.

It is a good fit if you need to:

  • Model switches, wireless infrastructure, VPN devices, and other managed network systems in FortiNAC-F
  • Place unknown, untrusted, or non-compliant devices into the right isolation or logical network
  • Build security automation from third-party syslog and SNMP events
  • Operate hot-standby and N+1 high availability
  • Manage multiple FortiNAC-F appliances through FortiNAC-F Manager
  • Integrate FortiNAC-F with FortiGate, VPN, MDM, directory, and Security Fabric services
  • Investigate rogue, classified, registered, and aging host records

Typical study time: 4-8 weeks of focused study

Study tip: Learn the FortiNAC-F object model before memorizing menu paths. A host state such as Registration, Authentication, Quarantine, Dead End, Default, Voice, or Roaming Guest determines the treatment; a logical network holds an access value that maps to the real device-specific VLAN or role; and a user or host profile decides which network-access, endpoint-compliance, portal, authentication, or security-rule policy applies. Keep 1-to-1 hot standby separate from N+1 failover, and keep FortiNAC-F Manager separate from FortiManager.

Practice Exam - 250 Questions

Fortinet Certification Path

The FortiNAC-F 7.6 Administrator exam sits at NSE 6, Fortinet’s professional technical tier. Fortinet certifications are valid for two years, and the current program provides exam and recertification-assessment paths for renewal.

Study Tips

  1. Separate host states and networks. Registration is for unknown or unregistered hosts; Quarantine is for devices that fail a policy scan; Dead End is for disabled hosts. Know which service or isolation network each state needs.
  2. Master the policy chain. User and host profiles match who, what, where, and when; the resulting policy controls network access, endpoint compliance, portals, authentication, or automated security response.
  3. Learn both HA models. In 1-to-1 hot standby, a primary and secondary form a pair. In N+1, FortiNAC-F Manager coordinates failover groups, but the secondary performs the direct and indirect health checks.
  4. Know the integration boundaries. FortiNAC-F can use FortiGate VPN sessions, firewall tags, MDM data, syslog, and SNMP traps, but the exam still asks what FortiNAC-F does with that information.
  5. Treat profiling as a lifecycle. A rogue device can be classified by profiling rules and fingerprints, then registered automatically, manually, or through CSV import. Do not confuse FortiNAC profiling with Cisco ISE certainty-factor mechanics.
  6. Use evidence when troubleshooting. Host records, device status, administrative visibility views, reports, logs, security events, and FortiGate session data each answer a different operational question.
  7. Simulate the real exam. Use timed mode to practise interpreting configuration extracts, operational scenarios, and troubleshooting captures within the published 60-70 minute window.
