The EC-Council Disaster Recovery Professional (EDRP v3) exam validates the ability to plan, execute, and maintain business continuity and disaster recovery. It starts with risk assessment, business impact analysis, recovery objectives, and continuity strategy. It then goes deep on backup and recovery: RAID and storage architectures, backup types and consistency, cloud and offsite copies, immutability, replication, recovery sites, failover and failback, cyber clean rooms, virtualization, system-state and bare-metal recovery, dependency sequencing, and survivable recovery metadata. The final domains cover disaster declaration, roles, communications, runbooks, exercises, corrective action, plan maintenance, training, and safety. Original practice questions. 💡 Study tip: Keep the boundaries clear. Risk assessment asks what can happen; BIA asks what the business loses and how quickly it must recover. RTO is the restoration-time target; RPO is the acceptable data-loss interval. Replication is not backup, RAID is not backup, and a snapshot is not automatically an independent backup. For recovery strategy, know the difference between Backup and Restore, Pilot Light, Warm Standby, hot active/passive, and multi-site active/active. A recovered VM is not a recovered service until data, identity, networking, certificates, integrations, security, and capacity are validated.
