The EC-Council Certified Cloud Security Engineer (C|CSE v2, exam 312-40) validates the hands-on skills a working cloud security engineer needs to design, configure, operate, and defend workloads across public cloud. It is vendor-neutral plus vendor-specific — every domain applies the native security tooling of Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud. It covers eleven modules: Introduction to Cloud Security (service and deployment models, cloud threats, and the shared responsibility model), Platform and Infrastructure Security (multi-tenant isolation, virtualization and container security, network segmentation, and IAM foundations), Application Security (secure SDLC, cloud-native app controls, container and API security, and DevSecOps), Data Security (encryption at rest and in transit, key management, tokenization, and DLP), Operation Security (posture management, patching, logging, and continuous compliance), Penetration Testing in the Cloud (methodology and each provider’s rules of engagement), Incident Detection and Response (the IR lifecycle, cloud-native detection, and SOAR), Forensics Investigation (cloud evidence acquisition and chain of custody), Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (RTO/RPO and DR strategies), Governance, Risk, and Compliance (frameworks and standards such as ISO/IEC 27017 and PCI DSS), and Standards, Policies, and Legal Issues. Who Should Take This Exam?

They are also the most hands-on: know how security groups/NSGs/VPC firewall rules, IAM roles and service accounts, encryption and key management (SSE-KMS, Key Vault, Cloud KMS), and container/DevSecOps controls differ across AWS, Azure, and GCP. The eight 8% domains each still carry ~20 questions, so don’t skip forensics, pen-testing rules of engagement, or the governance and legal material.
